New MCBA Competition Offerings – Tuesday and Wednesday Evenings at MSAC
Melbourne Central Basketball Association (MCBA) is expanding our senior domestic offerings, and we’re excited to announce that the MSDBA (Spartans Basketball) and Melbourne Basketball Association (MBA) Tuesday and Wednesday night senior domestic competitions at MSAC will now be managed by MCBA as part of a planned transitional process which commenced with an agreement over 3 years ago.
This transition is a collaboration between Spartans, MBA and MCBA (and includes the support of Basketball Victoria and the Victorian government) with the intention of providing the best possible community basketball experience for the Melbourne and Port Phillip area.
What does this mean for you?
For current participants, not much will change! Our goal is to preserve the unique characteristics that make these competitions special while ensuring smooth operations under MCBA’s management. Administration and competition oversight will be handled by MCBA, with the support of the Competitions Advisory Committee to guide by-law management, competition improvements, and feedback.
As part of this transition, the Wednesday evening Senior Domestic Competition will be unified under a single competition structure, bringing everything under the same management and registration platform.
Additionally, both competitions will benefit from an enhanced officials’ development program on competition nights, ensuring ongoing growth and support for referees at MSAC.
Competitions under MCBA management will take effect from mid-April 2025:
Tuesday Afternoon 4pm – 6pm – Playball Basketball Bayside
Tuesday Evening 6pm – 11pm @ MSAC – Spartans Senior Domestic Competition – Scorers provided and incorporated into team sheet fees
Wednesday Afternoon – 4pm – 6pm – Playball Basketball Bayside
Wednesday Evening 6pm – 11pm @ MSAC – Senior Domestic Competition
Thursday Evening 6:30 – 11pm – Senior Domestic Competition
Friday 4pm – 7pm – Playball Basketball Bayside
Saturday 12pm – 7pm – Junior Domestic Basketball
Sunday 4:30pm – 10:30pm – CYMS Senior Domestic Basketball
